Annum Bhd, a leading Malaysian conglomerate, has introduced a smart farming initiative through its subsidiary, Annum Industries Sdn Bhd. In collaboration with Serada Agrotech Sdn Bhd and the Terengganu State Agriculture Department, Annum aims to revolutionize the agricultural sector by promoting the adoption of Industrial Revolution 4.0 technologies in farming practices.
The smart farming solution developed by Annum utilizes advanced technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, and automation to optimize resource usage, reduce environmental impact, and increase crop yields. By integrating sensor networks, real-time data monitoring, and predictive analytics, farmers can make informed decisions about irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and crop management.
The company plans to establish 200 state-of-the-art greenhouses equipped with smart farming technology. These greenhouses will serve as demonstration and training centers, empowering local farmers with the knowledge and skills to embrace sustainable agricultural practices.
Annum's initiative aligns with the Malaysian government's agenda to promote digitalization and technology adoption in the agriculture sector. By leveraging the power of data and smart technologies, Annum aims to enhance food security, improve farming efficiency, and create a more sustainable future for Malaysia's agricultural industry.
