BPMB to finance PIDC's RM253.5 million data centre in Cyberjaya

KUALA LUMPUR: Pi Data Centre Sdn Bhd (PiDC) has secured RM253.5 million in Tawarruq asset financing facilities from Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd for the establishment of a Tier III data centre in Cyberjaya, Selangor.

Roni Abdulwahab, the CEO of Bank Pembangunan, expressed delight in supporting the data centre's construction, emphasising its significance in Malaysia's digital evolution.

"This collaboration underscores Bank Pembangunan's dedication to providing impactful capital for national advancement. Investments in digital infrastructure are pivotal for fostering economic progress and elevating Malaysia's global competitiveness," stated Abdulwahab.

He highlighted the alignment of PiDC's endeavours with national strategies such as MyDIGITAL and the New Industrial Master Plan 2030. Through this initiative, Abdulwahab believes that Malaysia's digital innovation capabilities will flourish, bolstered by robust digital infrastructure and a skilled workforce.


CEO of PiDC, Ong Chin Seong, emphasised the project's focus on sustainability and talent cultivation.


"We are privileged to join forces with Bank Pembangunan to realise our vision of a premier data centre that not only meets top-tier efficiency and performance standards but also champions environmental sustainability and talent nurturing," commented Ong.


PiDC aims to attain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver and GreenRe Gold certifications, underscoring its commitment to eco-friendly practices throughout design, construction, and operations.


Furthermore, PiDC plans to offer industry training and exposure to students from vocational training institutes and universities, contributing to a skilled workforce and fostering innovation in the digital realm.
