The Bumiputera Business Excellence Awards (BBEA) 2022, a premier award programme hosting exceptional entrepreneurs in Malaysia, delivered a spectacular ensemble of inspiring businesses and corporate personalities, gathered in one place to celebrate.
Held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), the event was supported and officiated by YBhg Tan Sri Noh Bin Hj. Omar and saw over 300 guests which included 70 local businesses and corporate personalities from various industries be recognised for their business achievements and enterprising spirit that has brought success towards the nation’s economy.
Mahathir Mahzan, Chairman of the BBEA 2022, opened the event and highlighted the dedication of the awards in bringing light to the recipients' outstanding achievements and encouraging the entrepreneurs to continue to succeed in the competitive environment of their respective businesses.
Adding to the diversity of the awards, numerous celebrity entrepreneurs who have built highly successful careers outside of their profession in entertainment were also acknowledged, including appearances from prominent names such as actor Shahmira Muhammad, also known as Shuib Sepahtu, and actress-singer Tya Arifin.
YBhg Datuk Amy Search, YBhg Datuk Nora Ariffin, Ella Aminuddin and Anuar Zain were also commemorated for their illustrious career in the local and international music industry as Malaysia’s legendary singers.
The event was also graced with the presence of Yang Berhormat Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Mohd Radzi, politician and disability rights activist, who was presented with an award of her own, honoring her continued dedication to the world of journalism and bringing awareness to making the nation more OKU-friendly as a strong female leader.
Shaking things up, this year's BBEA featured an exclusive runway showcasing the collections of Malaysian fashion designers Bon Zainal and Ezuwan Ismail.
Part of BBEA’s mission and vision is to identify, recognise and support not only the successful businesses and brands but also to support the new brands and entrepreneurs. Business and social sustainability practices should make up a part of the company’s culture big or small.
In view of this, BBEA also recognised a handful of CSR initiatives that were worthy to be acknowledge by corporates in the past year through a dedicated award category for ‘Excellence in CSR’. This year the CSR category winners were Bank Rakyat, Nestle, Pelaburan MARA, Celcom, KPJ Healthcare and RHB Foundation.
This is in line with this year's theme, 'Championing Excellence, Celebrating Togetherness', where they have shown their dedication and extraordinary perseverance to always be one step ahead in adapting to economic changes.
