With the opening of their newest drive-thru location in Puchong, Selangor, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) has reached a major milestone in Malaysia, with a total of 150 locations. The well-known American coffee chain, which joined the Malaysian market in 1998, is dedicated to further developing its drive-thru network throughout the country.
The newest location, found at IOI Sierra Fresco's "neighbourhood street mall," is more than simply a coffee shop; it's also a cultural centre where locals can meet and share in the experience of drinking excellent coffee.
The Head of Marketing & Innovation for CBTL Malaysia, Fiona Rodrigues, announced in October 2022 that the company has plans to build 40 additional locations in Malaysia in 2023, with at least 15 of those locations offering drive-thru services.
CBTL was founded in California in 1963 and has subsequently expanded to over a thousand locations across over 40 nations. In late 2019, Filipino fast food giant Jollibee Food Corporation (JFC) paid $350 million to acquire the coffee business it now manages.
In March 2023, JFC claimed that CBTL had returned to net store expansion, with the addition of 23 CBTL stores in 2022, for a total of 1,071 locations in 24 countries. This expansion could mean that the number of stores has returned to levels seen before the outbreak. There were 1,189 stores worldwide as of July 2019, when JFC acquired CBTL, and that number will reduce to 1,048 by the end of 2021.
Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of CBTL Malaysia, opened its 150th cafe today in Puchong, Selangor, further demonstrating the company's dedication to providing genuine tastes and an original atmosphere to all Malaysians. Customers, who have adopted CBTL cafes as gathering places, have the utmost appreciation of Managing Director Mohamed Amar Shah.
CBTL's long-term plans for Malaysia include improving the quality of its drive-thru offerings and attracting more customers by catering to their busy lifestyles. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has established a firm foothold in the Malaysian coffee market, and because to their unwavering commitment to their customers they have become a household name.
