This makes Durioo the 5th Malaysian company to be accepted in YC, joining past fellow Malaysian startups Airbnb, Dropee, and Pop Meals, previously known as Dahmakan.
Y Combinator provides seed funding for startups through small investments in return for small stakes in the companies. On a biannual basis, YC selects a large number of startups to invest in and links founders with investors by giving them a chance to learn how to pitch their ideas to investors.
Durioo's founder and CEO, Sinan Ismail, shared the exciting news on his LinkedIn, who went into the interview process with YC, which was done virtually. Sinan Ismail, is also the founder an creator of Omar Hana and Digital Durian.
“We did a lot of simulations of the 10-minute interview, asked and answered hard questions and it all turned out to be great,” Sinan said, “It was a smooth interview but waiting for the phone call was truly beyond nerve-wracking!”
