Loewe Takes Cues From Studio Ghibli’s ‘Spirited Away’ For Second Collaboration Collection

Just short of their successful ‘My Neighbour Totoro’ inspired collection, Loewe is taking a dive into another beloved Studio Ghibli classic for the next chapter in their collaboration with the award-winning animation studio.

Imagined by Creative Director Jonathan Anderson, the Loewe x Spirited Away capsule collection is an ‘ode to loyalty and friendship,’ and sees fan-favorite characters from the 2001 film rendered in ready-to-wear apparel and accessories. The Spanish luxury brand has also incorporated the classic Japanese patchwork technique of “boro” which can be found on pom-pom add-ons mimicking the image of the soot-spirit Susuwatari.

To further channel the fantastical world, a campaign shot by photographer Juergen Teller translates dream-like imagery to the series with the help of singer Dua Saleh.

Like with the previous Studio Ghibli collection, this capsule continues the Loewe Foundation’s support for Studio Ghibl through the support of the Tokuma Memorial Cultural Foundation for Animation to maintain cultural activities and exhibitions.

The exclusive Loewe x Spirited Away collection is available online and in selected LOEWE stores now.
