Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) has appointed Mohamed Rafe Mohamed Haneef as the new CEO of the MBSB Group, effective from July 1, 2023. This appointment follows MBSB's proposed acquisition of Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd (MIDF), with MBSB serving as the holding company of the enlarged group.
As part of the strategic plans, the current MBSB Group CEO, Datuk Nor Azam M. Taib, will focus on his role as the CEO of MBSB Bank Bhd starting from the same date. Mohamed Rafe brings extensive experience in Islamic banking, having held key positions in global banks, an international asset management company, and a legal firm.
He holds a law degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia and a master's degree in International Finance and Securities Law from Harvard Law School.
