Shell Malaysia has officially announced that Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman will be adding on to her role as senior vice-president, having been named the company’s new country chair, effective from the 1st of January 2023.
Succeeding Datuk Ivan Tan, who will be taking on the role of the executive vice-president, wells, for the Shell group and who will be based in The Hague, Netherlands, Siti Hurrairah will be the first female country chair and senior vice-president of upstream for Shell Malaysia.
Originating from Kuching, Sarawak, she started her with Shell as a Shell scholar, graduating from Imperial College in London with a first-class degree in mechanical engineering, going on to become an operation engineer in Shell Malaysia Upstream.
The early days of her career saw her take on roles in development, planning, commercial and strategy in the UK and Malaysia, before being appointed in 2011 as the first female Malaysian asset manager and director of Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd.
In 2015, Siti Hurrairah moved to London as the general manager of commercial operations in Shell’s trading and supply business, where she was responsible for global commercial services for the Shell group in 2015, before being appointed as vice president.
