Southern Cable Group Bhd, a prominent manufacturer of cables and wires, has recently secured a substantial contract worth RM90.4 million. This contract entails the supply of underground cables and conductors to Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), the nation's utility giant. The successful bid was made by Southern Cable's wholly-owned subsidiary, Southern Cable Sdn. Bhd, and follows another contract addendum worth over RM30 million that was secured in April 2023.
This latest achievement significantly bolsters the total value of contracts between Southern Cable and TNB, now standing at RM422.5 million compared to the previous RM332.1 million. Tung Eng Hai, the managing director of Southern Cable, expressed his satisfaction with this contract, emphasizing its positive impact on the company's outlook and its testament to TNB's trust in Southern Cable.
Tung Eng Hai further stated, "Given our extensive experience in serving esteemed power utility companies in the country, we remain optimistic about securing additional victories to propel our growth while contributing to the development of the nation's infrastructure." These remarks underscore Southern Cable's confidence in the demand for cables and wires in Malaysia's power infrastructure sector.
As of now, Southern Cable has a robust order book totaling RM692.7 million, scheduled to be fulfilled by 2024. The orders comprise a wide range of products and services, including power cables, wires, aluminum rods, as well as the supply and installation of rectifier systems for 5G networks. With this impressive pipeline of projects, Southern Cable is poised for continued success in the industry while supporting the country's infrastructure development initiatives.
